All-Causes Delay to Air Transport in Europe for February 2019

1 April 2019

In February, an industrial action at Hamburg (04 February) and Düsseldorf airport (07 February) impacted their respective operations.

The Belgian air traffic control industrial action on 13 February generated en-route air traffic flow management (ATFM) delay and the EUROCONTROL Network Manager (NM) estimates that 835 flights did not operate to/from Belgian airports and approximately 1,340 fewer flights did not operate through Brussels ACC.

The volcanic ash cloud due to the eruption of Mt. Etna generated ATFM delay at Catania airport from 17 to 22 February.

Low visibility and strong winds impacted operations at London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Istanbul Atatürk and Amsterdam Schiphol.
