Network Manager’s Technical Systems rated at CMMI Maturity Level 3

21 May 2014

Following an in-depth appraisal which took place in April 2014, the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) has renewed the Network Manager Technical Systems (NTS) services’ CMMI Maturity Level 3 rating.

NTS is responsible for delivering mission- and safety-critical IT services and technical operational support. It was successfully assessed in two areas:

  • product and service development — CMMI for Development (CMMI-DEV). This area addresses product and service development processes;
  • product and service acquisition — CMMI for Acquisition (CMMI-ACQ). This area addresses supply chain management, acquisition and outsourcing processes in government and industry.

Besides its main objectives - to improve quality, predictability and overall efficiency -, the assessment was one of NTS’ priorities for 2014. The reason: CMMI is the foundation for its certified ISO quality management system, but it also forms part of the SSAS (Software Safety Assurance System) and underpins its compliance with the EASA Implementing Rule EC 482/2010.

Thanks to its ongoing technical and process improvement programmes, NTS has reached an industry-grade level of maturity.
